Siculus Flaccus is one of the so-called gromatici ueteres. His work, De condicionibus agrorum, is transmitted as part of the Corpus agrimensorum Romanorum. The text of the work reveals that Flaccus was a professional expert in the field of land-surveying, and had a detailed knowledge of the treatises by Frontinus and Hyginus on that topic, also included in the Corpus agrimensorum Romanorum.

For a long time all attempts at offering a precise date for Siculus Flaccus failed. Recently, the hypothesis has been advanced that he should be dated between 292 and 312 AD, on the bases of some data present his work. On the other hand, a consensus exists on locating Flaccus’s activity in Italy: Flaccus himself declares that he knows the territories of Pisaurum, Nola and Beneventum. [D. Paniagua; translation L.
