saec. IV-V
The biographical data we have on Vibius Sequester are almost non-existent and are in any case derived from his work. Sequester is the author of a short geographical lexicon entitled De fluminibus fontibus lacubus nemoribus paludibus montibus gentibus per litteras which is transmitted by the famous manuscript Vat, lat. 4929, in a section on history and geography.
In the prefatory epistle Vibius Sequester dedicates the work to his son Virgilianus as a tool to be used in his professional activity (professioni tuae necessarium), perhaps in the field of education. [D. Paniagua; tr. L. Battezzato]
