Monumenta Germaniae Historica, Auctorum antiquissimorum tomus XI Chronicorum minorum saec. IV. V. VI. VII., vol. II, ed. Th. Mommsen, Berolini 1894, 304).

Edited by Th. Mommsen (1834, 304) among the texts of Auctores Antiquissimi, the so called Dedicatio ad Sisenandum was attributed to Isidore of Seville and dated in the VI or VII century. It was held as a text complementary  to the Isidorian Historia Gothorum and related to the Recapitulatio associated to this History. The text aims to be a letter addressed to King Sisnandus dealing with the first origins of the Hispani. Nevertheless  both the manuscript transmission and some textual features led some scholars to suspect its authenticity. After Luis Vázquez de Parga (1983), the idea of a false nature of  the Dedicatio prevailed (Helena de Carlos Villamarín 1996): the research drove to a new datation of the text in the XIIth. century  and to relate its authorship to the ideological environment of bishop Pelagius of Oviedo, known as a textual forger. [H. de Carlos Villamarín]
