The De bello civili inter Caesarem et Pompeium is a short text of uncertain date that occupies seventeen lines in the J. Endt’s Teubner edition of the Adnotationes super Lucanum.  It summarizes with extreme concision the beginnings and the principal events of the civil war between Caesar and Pompey, from the collapse of the so-called first triumvirate until the death of Pompey in Egypt.  Four codices of the Adnotationes transmit the work: W (Wallersteinensis I 2, of the 9^th/10^th c.), C (Bernensis 370, of the 10^th c.), G (Bruxellensis 5330 – 32 bibliothecae Burgundicae, olim Gemblacensis, of the 10^th c.), and D (Berlinensis f. 35, of the 13^th c.).  Its form recalls that of the briefest narrative sections of the Adnotationes and clearly betrays its original function as a school text.  [A.
