Reference edition:

We have no manuscript testimony for the Hermeneumata Stephani; rather, the text survives to us through an early edition printed by Henri Estienne (Henricus Stephanus), Glossaria duo e situ vetustatis eruta; ad utriusque linguae cognitionem et locupletationem perutilia.  Paris 1573.

The text that Stephanus assembled is almost certainly the product of at least two heterogeneous sources, which appear to me to have been transmitted by at least two codices.  According to the order the texts are presented in the printed edition, the contents of the work are as follows:

1. Coll. 237-81: Fifty capitula (de caelo, iterum de caelo, deorum nomina, dearum, de homine, etc.), many of which are repeated in two different redactions, a fact that may result from Stephanus’ reliance on two sources.
2. Coll. 281-94: One colloquium that is similar to the one present in the Hermeneumata Leidensia (281-6) and a second colloquium that is otherwise unknown (286-94).  It is easy to imagine these texts deriving from two sources.
3. Coll. 294-305: Four texts: (a) Niciarii et Carfilidis interrogationes et responsa; (b) Responsa sapientium; (c) Praecepta in Delphis; (d) Hadriani sententiae.

Georg Goetz published these sections (capitula, colloquia, and texts) under the general title Hermeneumata Stephani (Goetz 1892 = Corpus glossariorum Latinorum III: 345-90), while Eleanor Dickey published the two colloquia together with an English translation and commentary (Dickey 2012: 185-245). 

1. Coll. 306-47: A Greco-Latin glossary in alphabetical order: Vocabula graeca cum latina interpretatione ex diversis libris glossariorum nomine inscriptis collecta.
2. Coll. 348-59: A second Greco-Latin glossary in alphabetical order: Vocabulorum aliquot interpretationes superioribus addendae.

The last two sections (the glossaries) were published under the title Glossae Stephani (Goetz 1892 = Corpus glossariorum Latinorum III: 438-74). 

It is uncertain whether the glossaries were originally part of the Hermeneumata. [P. Gatti; tr. C. L. Caterine].
