The Hermeneumata Amploniana takes its name from the codex that transmits the text, viz. ms. Erfurt, Wissenschaftliche Allgemeinbibliothek, Amplon. 2^o 10 (9^th c.).  The work consists of a brief preface, an alphabetical list of 676 Greco-Latin glosses, and 28 capitula.  Judging from the testimony of an index attached to the preface, the manuscript is missing about a dozen of the capitula that were originally contained in the complete text.  Some excerpta of the collection are found in other manuscripts: (1) Leiden Bibliotheek der Rijksuniversiteit, Voss. lat. F. 24 (9^th c.); (2) Bern, Burgerbibliothek, 236 (10^th c.); (3) Paris, Bibliothèque Nationale de France, lat. 7683, a manuscript that Claude Saumaise (Claudius Salmasius) assembled in the 17^th c. from sources that are at least partially lost, among which was probably a codex of the Hermeneumata Amploniana that preserved a complete sequence of capitula.  In 1892, Georg Goetz published a diplomatic edition of the text from the Erfurt codex.  [P.
