Friedrich Lindenbrog (Tiliobroga) first edited these scholia - which are normally transmitted with Lactantius’ Placidus’ commentary on the Thebaid - in 1600 AD, attributing them to the period of Charlemagne.  Modern editors, however, now agree that there is no solid basis for this dating (Jahnke, Klotz, Sweeney), and have found it extremely hard to say anything certain about the text; this difficulty results from the fact that it mostly collects passages of Servius, the Vatican Mythographer I, and the most famous poets.  Indeed, it contains so little original material that Sweeney has referred to it as a cento.  [A.
