The Hermeneumata Monacensia take their name from the fact that this text is transmitted by a number of manuscripts preserved at Munich.  The work, which is written in Latin and Greek, contains an alphabetical glossary of over 3000 terms, a series of over 50 capitula, and two colloquia (one following a brief prologue at the start of the work, and another introduced by a second brief prologue at its end).  It is possible to observe certain similarities between the capitula of this work and those of the Hermeneumata Einsidlensia, and there is likewise such substantial overlap between the two colloquia found in the Hermeneumata Monacensia and those found in the Hermeneumata Einsidlensia that Eleanor Dickey published them together with the title “Colloquia Monacensia-Einsidlensia.”  Georg Goetz has published a diplomatic edition of the complete Hermeneumata Monacensia that reproduces ms. München, Bayerische Staatsbibliothek clm 13002 (written in 1158); this edition reports in the apparatus criticus the differences between the text of the reproduced codex and what is found in ms. München, Bayerische Staatsbibliothek clm 22201 (written in 1165), of the same library.  Other sources for this collection, some of which are incomplete, are ms.
